When Your Uniform Tells a Story — AMO x Seattle Coffee Company
What happens when two Cape Town brands choose people over product
There's a version of corporate gifting that ends with a branded pen and a forgotten drawer. And then there's what Seattle Coffee Company did.
When one of South Africa's most beloved coffee brands came to us looking for staff uniforms, they didn't just want shirts. They wanted something their baristas would be proud to wear — something that meant something. That conversation became one of the most fulfilling collaborations in AMO's journey so far.
Made in Lavender Hill. Worn Across Cape Town.
The shirts were cut and sewn by our team in Lavender Hill — a group of single mothers and grandmothers who bring extraordinary skill and care to every piece that leaves the factory floor. From there, the garments traveled to Buttermilk Embroidery in Ndabeni, another proudly local business, where the finishing detail was added.
Start to finish, the value chain stayed in Cape Town. In South Africa. In the hands of people who needed and deserved the work.
Seattle Coffee Company said it best:
"To know that our baristas are wearing shirts that have supported the local economy from start to finish is something we are super happy about."
That's not just a nice quote. That's the entire point of AMO.
What Corporate Partnership Looks Like With AMO
When a company partners with Africa Made Only, they're not just placing an order. They're investing in:
- Real jobs for skilled garment makers in underserved Cape Flats communities
- Locally sourced fabric — shweshwe from Da Gama Textiles in the Eastern Cape, and locally sourced fleece and single jersey
- Zero-waste production — our cut sheets leave almost nothing behind
- A story worth telling — your team, your clients, and your community will feel the difference
We work with brands from 10 to 1,000 units — a scale that makes AMO the right fit for businesses that care but can't commit to large factory minimums.
A Three-Year Partnership
This wasn't a once-off. Our relationship with Seattle Coffee Company has grown over three years — built on trust, shared values, and a belief that local doesn't mean compromise. It means the opposite.
